The Ninjago theme has always been a bit hit or miss for me. I’m of the wrong age demographic to be enticed by the generic ninja fantasy, but the constantly changing sub themes have allowed LEGO to release some creative lines. The current wave of sky-pirate sets hits just right with the junker/dieselpunk aesthetic. The flagship set is a kind of flying pirate aircraft carrier and I just couldn’t resist. Most of the larger LEGO sets are a bit lost on me. I’ve never bought a modular or a UCS set. I’ve been bullish on this new wave of Ninjago sets. The combination of dark colors is excellent and the spectral bad guys are full of win. I don’t buy many Ninjago sets. I appreciate the models, but only the large sets seem to appeal to me and I’ve yet to buy any. This new range of ghost warriors has me sitting up and taking notice though. Striking color palettes and undead dragons galore!
