I have to say that I was a surprised when LEGO acquired the Scooby-Doo license earlier this year. Once the set images broke, they seemed hit and miss. I figured that the minifigs would be the big selling point and resigned myself to picking up a copy of the Mystery Machine at some point. Then my lovely wife brought me home a copy of the Haunted Lighthouse. Continue reading 75903 Haunted Lighthouse

41099 Heartlake Skate Park
I like the Friends line a lot. They usually have broad color ranges and a generous assortment of elements that can’t be found in the other lines. I picked up the skate park because of all the fantastic orange and medium lavender elements and to see if it would make a candidate for drafting. Continue reading 41099 Heartlake Skate Park
70734 Master Wu Dragon
I don’t buy many Ninjago sets. I appreciate the models, but only the large sets seem to appeal to me and I’ve yet to buy any. This new range of ghost warriors has me sitting up and taking notice though. Striking color palettes and undead dragons galore!
70171 Ultrasonic Showdown
I’ve only bought a couple of sets in the Ultra Agents theme. I can’t say that I’m all that into the dark color schemes or the play oriented vehicles. I do like the villains though, so many bizarre and unique elements!
40153 Birthday Cake
I’m a sucker for these cute little exclusive sets. On a recent trip to my local Lego Store (where I was picking up the models I had on display), I found this set on the shelf and took one home.
Klinkers
Here I am finishing out my reviews of the Series 5 Mixels with the Klinkers. These steampunk goofballs really caught my eye when I first saw them a couple of months ago. It doesn’t take much to see their potential as parts packs for a number of fun pearl metallic elements and other accoutrements.
Frosticons (Mixels: series 5)
I’m enjoying the fact that Lego is revisiting some of the earlier tribes in this year’s Mixels. I can’t say that the Frosticons were one of my favorite tribes the first time around, but I am enjoying this new trio of blue monsters. Continue reading Frosticons (Mixels: series 5)
Lixers (Mixels)
This last weekend I found all of the new Series 5 Mixels at my local Lego store. It was an easy decision to grab one of each (and quite a few of the older Mixels that were marked half-off). I’m always looking forward to new Mixels, but these Lixers, with their bright shades of yellow and orange looked like a lot of fun. Who doesn’t like little monsters with big tongues?
40154 Pencil Pot
This charming little set caught my eye on a recent visit to the Lego store. I’m always on the lookout for parts packs, and this one looked to have a nice mix of ‘city’ elements and a good price per piece ratio. Continue reading 40154 Pencil Pot
Infernites (Series 4 Mixels)
They aren’t new anymore, but I just picked mine up recently, so I figured that I should talk about the second incarnation of the Infernites. If you’re like me, you might have written off this trio as a rehash, but don’t be so quick to dismiss. Continue reading Infernites (Series 4 Mixels)
